Micrometeoroids

Micrometeoroids
Meteor particles which are the size of salt grains. They are abundant in space and can be dangerous because of their high velocity. A ship can be shielded from them with a barrier of thin aluminum or similar material. When they enter the Earth's atmosphere, they are slowed quickly enough that they don't burn up. Instead, they simply float to the Earth's surface.
